Gray One: One of the older gods. The townspeople seem unaware of the existence of the dark dwarves just one day's journey distant. Are they hiding something? We decide to pursue the caravan we passed on the way into the city; they have dealings with the dark dwarves, and we have questions for them.
We catch up to them, as they

2020-07-07: Blobs and a Sucky Vampire {{{1
Some blobs come out from an altar and kick our asses. Then a crucified vampire bites and robs me of 17 max HP. This day was not so fun.
Obtained Staff of the Pattern: an orange-crystal-topped staff, hexagonal, engraved with the "Grid" 6-starred pattern.
Everybody level up to lvl. 8.

Party is hanging out in underground tomb after defeating the vampire. We found a hidden back room containing very delicate books written in Sylvan, which Alayna can read. Then we investigate the 2nd mausoleum in the graveyard. We find a hidden trapdoor in the floor and descend into a hexagonal room ringed by doors: Desk & bed, ransacked. Same with the others. All show signs of a bloody struggle.
As we emerge, more mud-creatures appear at the southern gate. They halt and hold position. Their leader (the same as the one from before) demands the crystal from us before attacking us.

After dealing with the Temple of Death, We decide to head west in order to investigate undiscovered Pattern locations/shrines.
We find a chapel, with a single door. Inside there are pictograms showing a large creature battling many smaller creatures; also a prison. At the far end we find charred skeletons and bodies in a heap. There are 3 pedestals containing bowls, behind an altar containing a 4th bowl. Inside the 4th bowl is a rectangular depression. Is this the Temple of Fire? Arava (Alayna) slots her Amulet of Fire into the depression in the bowl, and fire immediately blazes up within the bowl.
The other 3 bowls:
We try putting literal dirt and water plus a torch into the respective bowls and re-slot the amulet; nothing different happens.

After solving the bowl puzzle, we are teleported to an unfamiliar place. As we turn a corner, we encounter fire creatures that explode on death.

We are wandering around the sacred site of Fire, after finding more seed crystals. A large creature appears to be pounding on an anvil, and we try to avoid it. However, little fire demons pop out from side passages and attack us.
512 silver, 2 pearls in one chest; 2 amethysts, 512 copper, 210 silver in the other.
We find a giant working an anvil, who tells us the story of his masters' corruption via these crystals. He finishes working on a longsword, then asks for a certain amulet as a memento of this place. We exchange the amulet for the sword, and bangles he wears fall off his arms. We chuck the crystals we've found into the river of lava flowing behind him (they do disintegrate), then follow the metalsmith south.
412 silver, 311 electrum, 87 gold, and 3 coral in a chest nearby.
136 copper, 323 silver, 350 electrum, 77 gold, 11 platinum in another chest.

We decide to head south to Hafa Edhil (the Elven ruins protected by a dragon) from Brann Hjem (the sacred site of Fire). We are being followed by 5-10 creatures, however. Arava tries to scope them out, and sees that they are centaurs. They say our lives are forfeit for having entered their woods, then attack us.
When we arrive there, we find the dragon missing and the lizard-people moving in an odd manner. Perhaps the site has become more corrupted in our absence. We sneak along the northern wall until we get close to the dragon's old hoard, then try to sneak into town. When we reach the hoard, we find the remnants of the dragon, but no hoard.
2020-10-06: A Strange Interlude {{{1
While on watch, as we are about to wake Fruvial for his watch, suddenly Wayland (Dave) disappears and is replaced by a hunched figure. 3-4 feet tall, crouching, peering into the fire. He looks at us and puts a finger to his lips. "You appear to be resourceful. I have need of some resourcefulness. Would you care to join me?" He asks us to retrieve a small fist-sized glasslike object -- he warns us not to look at it too long. Held by elves to the north. He asks to be called Nellie because, as he says, "Names have power." I tell him my name is Bob; Alayna, Kevin; Therron, Jay.
We hear a "poof" behind us. Nellie turns into a collection of spiders and ants and tiny critters, which then scatter into the forest. A willow-the-wisp appears and we follow it. At a certain point we hear some whispering. We sneak up and see a red-capped fellow holding a blade and speaking in Sylvan: "We have to keep the Bauble; if we keep it for 30 days he has to grant us a wish!" We sneak past these creatures (and many more pop out as we go by) and continue following the wisp.
After about an hour, we reach a clearing. We hear the sound of baying, and the chittering of indistinct voices. We attack the redcaps and wolves in the clearing.
We find an elf dancing in the center of a circle of pixies, holding the bauble in his hand. We kill him and take the bauble back to Nellie. Nellie warns us that the forest, although evil, is not our enemy. He promises to divert our pursuers from our trail. He also gives us Pendants of the Fates: after rolling d20, can change the roll to a 10. 3 charges; not rechargeable (once used, it's done).
2020-10-20: Dazed and Confused {{{1 Back at Hafa Edhil: lots of milling, dazed lizardmen. Alayna talks to her wolf, who reports that the lizardmen numbered 12 or so. We decide to head south, past the lizardman camp, towards the sacred grove. As we approach, we get a strange feeling, but shrug it off once. The second time it hits us, Meghan (Arika), goes into a trance and zones out for several minutes. And she goes completely out for 5 full minutes on the third occasion. Alayna and Dave make their way to the center of the grove, weathering a few further waves of stupefaction, and see a group of elves in the center clearing. In the pond nearby Dave sees multiple eyes watching him. Meghan and I (who had stayed behind because she was too frightened to proceed) cannot see the creatures attacking our friends at first. When I do figure out what's happening, I run full-tilt towards them, but get blasted by another stupefying wave and just stand there, slack-jawed. Alayna smacks me, but it doesn't do a whole lot to rouse me. 2020-11-10: Missed this Session {{{1 The party destroyed the crystal and saved Hafa Edhil. They go talk to the elves, who now wish to appoint a new Guardian. Tree creatures attack. Whackiness ensues. 2020-11-17: {{{1 We fight a group of pixies and treants, barely winning. We then find a group of orcs, who are dedicated to some druids who prophesy the end of time. They send a pair of scouts to escort us away from the sacred site (which they are guarding for the druids), which we kill as soon as we are far away from the main camp. Therron tries to trick the orcs as to how the scouts were killed, but they don't believe a word of it. They attack.
2021-01-19: Four... {{{1 We defeat the remainder of the orcs surrounding us. That night, a masked figure (Seidl) attacks us (with the help of a giant eagle and a woolly mammoth). A second lady (astride another giant eagle) assists us and tells us to follow her up into the Spire after we defeat the foozle.
2021-02-16: Three... {{{1 We find tons of undead orcs outside the Not-A-Monastery. They start towards us as we approach within 50 ft or so, so we retreat a bit again. 48 cp + 27 sp after we beat them in battle. We also notice that the undead orcs' tusks are made of stone, not enamel or bone. It soon becomes obvious that this is due to the pack of basilisks just inside the walls of the Not-A-Monastery.

2021-03-02: Two... {{{1 We whomp on a ton of zombies, a medusa, and a particularly obnoxious orcish bard. Jason takes special pains to Gallagher that guy's head with his warhammer when he's done with the guy.
